The Central Government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana does offer a subsidy of up to ₹78,000 for the installation of rooftop solar systems, which can completely cut down or even nullify your electricity bill. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the “300 units of free electricity” is an estimate of possible monthly savings and not a direct government credit.
The program is for homeowners to produce electricity themselves. Any electricity your solar system generates is used in your home initially, and any surplus can be sold back to the grid to gain credits, potentially resulting in bills equal to zero if your generation is equal to or greater than your usage.
